How Much Does a Yoga Retreat Cost? A 2026 Price Guide

By Lesley Davies ·

How much does a yoga retreat cost? The honest answer is a range: from a few hundred dollars for a weekend close to home to $10,000 or more for a luxury week abroad. Where a retreat falls in that range depends on the destination, the accommodation, the length, what is included and how far you travel to get there.

This guide breaks down typical 2026 prices, what you get at each level, the extra costs that are easy to forget and how to get the best value from your week of practice.

How much does a yoga retreat cost? The short answer

In 2026, a mid-range yoga or wellness retreat typically costs about $1,500 to $3,500 per person for a week, with accommodation, meals and daily classes included. Budget retreats start at around $75 to $150 a night, and luxury weeks run from about $4,000 to $10,000 or more. Flights, travel insurance and tips are usually extra.

Yoga retreat prices by tier

How much does a yoga retreat cost per day?

Per night, Retreat Central's 2026 ranges put budget retreats at about $75 to $150, mid-range retreats at about $150 to $350 and premium retreats at about $350 to $700, with luxury properties from about $1,000. Longer retreats are usually cheaper per night, so a week often works out better value than a long weekend, even though the total is higher.

What is usually included in a yoga retreat

At every price level, Retreat Central says the core package usually covers accommodation, meals and the daily program of classes, meditation or workshops. Higher tiers add spa treatments, excursions and more personal attention.

On our own retreats, the price typically includes accommodation, daily practice, airport transfers at set times, the guided excursions and experiences in the itinerary, and a number of group meals. That is worth checking on any retreat, because a lower price that leaves out transfers, excursions or meals can end up costing more.

What is usually not included

  • International flights, which are rarely included because guests travel from different places.
  • Travel insurance, which you buy separately.
  • The single supplement if you want a room to yourself.
  • Spa treatments and extra sessions, such as private classes or massages.
  • Gratuities and alcohol.
  • Visas and entry fees where they apply.

The extra costs to budget for

The retreat fee is only part of the cost of a yoga retreat. These are the extras that most often catch people out.

ExtraWhat to budget
FlightsOften the biggest extra, and the one that varies most with distance and season
Travel insuranceComprehensive plans typically cost 4 to 10 percent of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs, according to Squaremouth
Single supplementAn extra charge if you want a private room, since your bed cannot be sold to another guest
Visas and feesThese vary widely. Bhutan, for example, charges a fee of $100 per person per night plus a $40 visa
TipsFor guides, drivers and local staff, at local rates
Extras on the groundSpa treatments, drinks, shopping and optional activities
Extra nightsA hotel night before or after the retreat if your flights do not match the transfer times
Travel healthA travel clinic visit and any recommended vaccines for your destination

Two examples show how much the extras can vary. Squaremouth puts the average comprehensive travel insurance plan in 2026 at roughly 6 percent of insured trip costs. And on a safari that starts at Victoria Falls, the State Department lists Zimbabwe's visa on arrival at $30 for a single entry or $45 for a double entry, which matters if your route crosses the border and back. In Bhutan, the State Department lists a non-negotiable fee of $100 per person per night, plus a $40 visa fee.

What drives the price up or down

  • Location. Remote destinations cost more to reach, and Retreat Central notes that travel costs can rival the retreat fee itself.
  • Season. Peak weeks cost more. Shoulder seasons are usually better value, and often more pleasant for practice too.
  • Length. A full week costs more in total but often less per night than a long weekend.
  • Room type. Sharing a room is the simplest way to save. A private room usually carries a single supplement.
  • What is included. Excursions, private transport and more meals raise the price, and also the value.
  • Group size. Small groups give you more attention from your teacher, and the fixed costs are shared among fewer people.

Is a cheap yoga retreat worth it?

Sometimes. A simple retreat with shared rooms and plain food can be a wonderful week if the teaching is good. Before you book on price alone, check what is missing: how many classes there are, who teaches them, how many guests share each class, which meals are included, and whether transfers and excursions will cost extra. A retreat that looks cheaper can end up costing more once the extras are added, and a crowded class with an inexperienced teacher is of poor value at any price.

How to compare two yoga retreats fairly

The nightly price is the least useful number to compare. Line up these instead.

CompareWhy it matters
Hours of practice per dayOne class a day and two classes a day are very different weeks
Meals includedThree meals a day versus breakfast only can mean hundreds of dollars
Excursions includedBoat days, safaris and guided hikes are expensive to add on the spot
Airport transfersIncluded transfers save money and stress on arrival
Room typeShared, private or a single supplement

How to get the best value from a yoga retreat

  • Book early. Early-bird prices reward guests who commit early, and the best rooms go first.
  • Travel in the shoulder season. Late spring and early fall are usually better value in the Mediterranean, and our guide to the best time of year for a wellness retreat covers every region.
  • Share a room if you are comfortable doing so, and read our guide to going on a yoga retreat alone if you are traveling solo.
  • Look for a payment plan that spreads the cost between booking and the balance date.
  • Choose a retreat that includes more, such as transfers and excursions, rather than one with a low headline price.
  • Consider the journey. A retreat with a shorter, cheaper flight, such as Sedona for US travelers, can make a big difference to the total.
  • Buy insurance early. Some valuable benefits, such as cancel-for-any-reason cover, are only available soon after your first payment. Our guide to yoga retreat insurance explains the details.

How our retreats are priced

As a yoga retreat hosting company, we quote every retreat for the group that is traveling, because the price depends on the destination, the season, the number of travelers and the rooms you choose. Share a budget range per traveler when you get in touch, and we will shape the options around it. Prices we share are proposals, not confirmed bookings, so you can compare before you commit.

If you are a teacher bringing your own group, the quote covers the retreat itself and you set the price your guests pay. A pricing framework for retreat leaders published on Yoga Alliance's website calls this the wholesale and retail model, and suggests adding a sustainability margin of 10 to 20 percent to your costs. Our guide to how much to charge for a yoga retreat walks through the numbers, and our retreat planning services explain what we take on.

Is a yoga retreat worth the cost?

For many people, yes, because a week of daily practice, good food, time outdoors and real rest is hard to recreate at home. The research on yoga and meditation points to real benefits for stress and sleep, which our guide to the benefits of a yoga retreat covers in detail. The best way to make the cost worthwhile is to choose a retreat whose practice, pace and setting match what you need.
